It's late on Friday and after 5 weeks of intensive planning, packing, reading, packing and more packing the time has come to finally set off. A good nights sleep will be needed, but is has proved tricky of late, with Ali and I waking up in the middle of the night thinking of yet more tasks that need to be done before we go.
Three car loads of stuff have been loaded into our new home on wheels, with the rest of it being packaged up and shoved into our sagging loft. The house is empty ready for Simon & Caroline, who will be staying in our house while we are away (look after it guys!).
Earlier in the week we got a lesson on how everything works, from lighting the water heater to emptying the toilet (that will be my job then I guess...).
Today was a beautiful sunny day in London but Ali has just checked the weather and it is not looking too kind tomorrow for our first step on the long road ahead. Gusting winds and light rain! Oh well, it would be boring if it wasn't a challenge.
The very first leg is only a few miles, from Whitstable to Margate. Our first stop should be a friendly one, as we are staying at Quex Caravan Site, where we have had a static caravan for the last few years.
The van currently looks like a bomb has gone off inside it, but hopefully by this time tomorrow we will be all settled in for our first night on two wheels...
